Come home to the outdoors to restore your body, mind, and spirit. On a gentle walk led by an experienced forest therapy guide, you’ll come back to your senses and have opportunities to interact with others in a small group, rest quietly in the shade, and perhaps even plant a tree for Upcountry or Lahaina.
"Healing Trees" is offered as a gift to the people of Maui after last year’s tragic wildfires. This monthly series of mindful walks is inspired by the practice of Shinrin-yoku (translated as “forest bathing”) that was developed in Japan in the early 1980s as a preventative self-care practice in response to the stressful conditions of living in an increasingly urbanized and technologically dependent society.
Today, forest bathing is a growing global wellness movement backed by more than 40 years of scientific research on the physical and mental health benefits of immersing yourself in nature. Those benefits include reduced stress, boosted immunity, and improved cardiovascular functioning, as well as enhanced creativity and clarity, memory and focus, and overall sense of well-being.
